Questions we get asked
How long will delivery take?
Two to three working days on the free tracked service, one to two on express. Everything is already in the UK, so there is no waiting on a shipment from Lagos.
Is this really in stock, or is it a pre-order?
Really in stock. We buy in batches and hold them here. If a piece is on the site, it is on our shelf. If it sells out, we take it down rather than let you order something that does not exist.
Will it fit me?
Our boubous and kaftans are free size and sit well on a UK 8 to 20. Palazzo sets are sized S to XL. Full measurements are on the Size & Fit Guide. If you are still unsure, email us with your usual size and your height and we will tell you honestly.
Why does my piece look slightly different from the photo?
Because it was dyed by hand. Adire and batik vary between pieces — the indigo pools differently, the pattern breaks in a different place. Two garments from the same run are never identical. This is the nature of the cloth, not a defect.
Can I return it?
Yes. Thirty days from delivery, unworn with tags on. Full details on the Returns page. You pay return postage unless the item is faulty or we sent the wrong thing.
Will the colour run?
A little, on the first wash. Wash the piece on its own in cold water the first two or three times and it settles. See Fabric Care.
What is adire?
A Yoruba resist-dyeing tradition from south-west Nigeria. Patterns are made by tying, stitching or waxing the cloth before it goes into indigo, so the covered areas resist the dye. It has been made this way for well over a century.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Not at the moment. Email us if you are abroad and we will see what is possible.
Do you do wholesale or bulk orders for events?
Yes — bridal parties and family groups are a large part of what we do. Email hello@kemja.co.uk with the number of pieces and your date, and we will come back with pricing and a realistic timeline.
Are you the same as KemjaDesigns on Etsy?
Yes. Same brand, same stock, same people. Ordering here is usually a little cheaper, as we are not paying Etsy's fees.
How do I contact a human?
hello@kemja.co.uk. We reply within one working day.
