Size & Fit Guide

How our pieces are meant to sit

Most of what we sell is cut generously and worn loose. That is not a compromise or a shortcut — it is how the garment is designed. A boubou is supposed to move.

Free size — what it actually means

Our boubous and kaftans are made in one generous size. In practice they sit beautifully on a UK 8 through to a UK 20. Below a UK 8 the shoulders may drop further than intended; above a UK 20, email us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether it will work.

Free size is not a way of avoiding sizing. It is what the silhouette calls for. The drape is the design.

Measurements

Piece Bust (flat, doubled) Length, shoulder to hem Sleeve
Boubou — full length Up to 152 cm / 60" 145 cm / 57" Elbow, wide cut
Kaftan — midi Up to 140 cm / 55" 115 cm / 45" Three-quarter

Full length suits anyone from about 5'4" to 5'10". If you are shorter, the hem will pool slightly — many customers prefer this. If you are taller than 5'10", email us and we will measure the specific piece for you before you buy.

Palazzo sets — these are sized

The palazzo trousers have an elasticated drawstring waist and come in S, M, L and XL.

S 8–10 66–74 cm 76 cm / 30"
M 12–14 74–82 cm 78 cm / 31"
L 16–18 82–92 cm 79 cm / 31"
XL 20–22 92–104 cm 79 cm / 31"

Still unsure?

Email hello@kemja.co.uk with your usual UK size and your height. We will give you a straight answer, including if the answer is that a piece will not suit you. We would rather lose the sale than take a return.
